POPRAD TATRY, June 19, 2015
Hans Podlipnik-Castillo and Adam Pavlasek will go head to head on Saturday’s final at the inaugural ATP Challenger event in Poprad Tatry.
On Friday, Podlipnik-Castillo defeated the tournament’s number five Norbert Gombos, winning 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. The 27-year-old unseeded Chilean capitalized on five of his ten break points, converting his first match point through serve and volley after two hours and four minutes. After Podlipnik-Castillo had claimed 23 titles on the ITF Future Circuit, he has reached his first final on ATP Challenger level.
Adam Pavlasek knocked out fourth seed Andre Ghem, winning 6-3, 6-4 in their first tour meeting. The 20-year-old Czech saved all seven break points he faced and capitalized on two of his own to reach his third Challenger final of the season, following his back to back defeats in Ostrava to Inigo Cervantes as well as in Rome to Aljaz Bedene in the first two weeks in May.
Podlipnik-Castillo and Pavlasek will meet for the second time on the tour with the Chilean winning the only previous encounter in three sets at the ITF F3 Czech Future tournament in Jablonec Nad Nisou in 2013.
