The ITF Pro Circuit has returned to Istria for the 46th edition of the ISTARSKA RIVIJERA, a three-week clay-court-swing and oldest international tennis event held in Croatia. Local favourite Nino Serdarusic is the champion of the first tournament at the Sport Center Eden in Rovinj. The No. 3 seed rallied past Spanish teenager Javier Barranco Cosano 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 in Monday’s singles final.
Serdarusic fired 10 aces, winning 73 per cent of his first service points to seal victory in two hours and 14 minutes. By lifting his sixth ITF Futures trophy, his first of the season, the 21-year-old Zagreb native earns $1,944 in prize money as well as 18 ATP Ranking points.
On Sunday, the all-Croat-combination of Ivan and Matej Sabanov captured the doubles title. The top seeds defeated Javier Barranco Cosano and Marco Bortolotti of Italy 6-4, 6-3. The final lasted one hour and 13 minutes.
