Spain will host Paraguay on an outdoor clay court at the La Manga Club in Cartagena for the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas World Group II play-offs from 21 to 22 April 2018. This was confirmed by the Spanish Tennis Federation RFET on Thursday.

The Spanish Fed Cup team will return to La Manga Club for the first time since 2004 when the Iberians celebrated a 3-2 World Group first round triumph over Switzerland.

Spain and Paraguay will meet for the first time.

Anabel Medina Garrigues, who captained Spain for the first time in their 3-2 World Group II first round defeat to Italy in February, will hope her squad can use home advantage to end a run of three straight defeats in Fed Cup in their first tie on home soil since April 2016.

Paraguay, meanwhile, is looking to reach World Group II for the first time, having lost in the World Group II play-offs in both 1995 and 2015.
