Alexander Zverev advanced to the fourth round of the Miami Open presented by Itaú. The No. 4 seed from Germany rallied past Spanish veteran David Ferrer 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 on Monday.

Zverev sent down six aces, winning 76 per cent of his first service points to prevail after one hour and 50 minutes. Next up for the 20-year-old will be Australian young gun Nick Kyrgios, who defeated Fabio Fognini 6-3, 6-3 in 66 minutes.

“I knew it was going to be tough. He has a lot of tricks up his sleeve and he’s very unpredictable,” Kyrgios said. “I knew I just had to serve well, play aggressive and keep the points short. When he gets in a rhythm he’s pretty dangerous.”

The two have clashed five times in their careers, with Kyrgios holding a slight edge in their FedEx ATP head-to-head series, 3-2.

#NextGenATP star Denis Shapovalov knocked out the tournament’s No. 11 Sam Querrey from the United States 6-4, 3-6, 7-5. The Canadian teenager capitalized on four of his six break point chances to seal victory in two hours and 23 minutes. Shapovalov will next face Croatian youngster Borna Coric.
