Lajovic Takes Open Region Guadeloupe Title

GUADELOUPE, April 2, 2018

Dusan Lajovic of Serbia clinched his sixth ATP Challenger crown, winning the €85,000 Open Region Guadeloupe held on hard courts at the Stade Lambert Lamby in Bas-du-Fort. The tournament’s No. 3 defeated No. 6 seed Bradley Klahn from the United States in Sunday’s singles final 6-4, 6-0.

Lajovic, who entered the main draw with a wild card, was in total control of the encounter. He sent down eight aces, winning 81 per cent of his first service points. Lajovic saved the only break point he faced, capitalizing on four of his own chances to prevail after 67 minutes.

One year after clinching a tour-leading 12 titles, Serbia has its first of the season. Lajovic takes away €12,250 in prize money as well as 100 ATP ranking points. He returned to the top 100, being ranked World No. 90.

Earlier in the day, Neil Skupski from Great Britain and John-Patrick Smith of Australia claimed the doubles crown. The duo beat Ruben Bemelmans from Belgium and Frenchman Jonathan Eysseric 7-6, 6-4. The final lasted one hour and 22 minutes.
