SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, April 2, 2018

The 32nd edition of the $50,000 San Luis Open, held on clay courts of the Club Deportivo Potosino in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, came down to Sunday’s singles final betweeen two unseeded players. Marcelo Arevalo from El Salvador fought past qualifier Roberto Cid Subervi from the Domenican Republic 6-3, 6-7, 6-4.

Arevalo saved two of the three break points he faced, converting three of his own. The 27-year-old outpointed his opponent 106-94 to finish the encounter after two hours and 17 minutes.

Following his maiden triumph on the ATP Challenger Tour in Bogota last year, Arevalo claimed his first trophy of the season and earns $7,200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP ranking points.

Later in the day, Arevalo was back in action teaming up with Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela of Mexico. The pair took the doubles title with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Jay Clarke from Great Britain and Germany’s Kevin Krawietz. The final lasted exactly one hour of play.
