ANTWERP, May 16, 2018

Organizers of the European Open announced that local favourite David Goffin will compete in the third edition of the ATP 250 event held from 15 to 21 October 2018 inside the Lotto Arena in Antwerp. In fact, it is the only ATP World Tour Tournament in Belgium. The winner of the first edition in 2016 was Richard Gasquet and last year, Gasquet’s compatriot Jo-Wilfried Tsonga took the title home.

“We are going from a top tennis competition to a top sports event where the emphasis is on the experience,” said new tournament owner and CEO of Tennium Kristoff Puelinckx. “For those who still doubted: the European Open is here to stay!”

At the end of March it was announced that former professional Dick Norman will be new tournament director of the biggest tennis event in Belgium. Now that Belgium’s top-player and World No. 10 David Goffin confirms his arrival, fans can expect an edition full of entertainment and top tennis.
