Johanna Larsson of Sweden and Katerina Siniakova from the Czech Republic are the first two semi-finalists of the 2018 Nürnberger Versicherungscup. Larsson rallied past Kristyna Pliskova 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 on another rainy day in Nürnberg.

The World No. 97 from Helsingborg withstood 10 aces, hitting five of her own to seal her second victory over Pliskova in as many meetings between the two after two hours and 16 minutes.

Larsson will face Siniakova, who edged out Hungarian qualifier Fanny Stollar 7-5, 6-4. The 22-year-old Hradec Kralove native broke her opponent’s serve four times to prevail after one hour and 35 minutes.

US-American Alison Riske and No. 6 seed Sorana Cirstea as well as two-time defending champion Kiki Bertens and fellow Belgian Kirsten Flipkens will square off for the other two semi-final tickets on Friday.
