Nadal Leads Bolelli By Two Sets At French Open

Rain at Roland Garros

PARIS, May 28, 2018

World No. 1 and 10-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal is leading 6-4, 6-3, 0-3 over Italian lucky loser Simone Bolelli on Court Philippe Chatrier before the match was suspended due to rain and postponed to Tuesday.

The 31-year-old Spaniard lost his serve in the second as well as at the beginning of the third set but was in control of the encounter. The winner will take on either Argentine Guido Pella or Estoril champion Joao Sousa. Pella leads the Portuguese by two sets.

Nadal is unbeaten against lucky losers at Tour-level, and Bolelli will have to produce a huge upset if he is to become just the third man to defeat Nadal in a best-of-five-sets match on clay. The 32-year-old Italian won just five games when the pair met in the first round here six years ago.
