PROSTEJOV, June 11, 2018
Jaume Munar captured his second ATP Challenger title winning the 25th anniversary of the e€127,00 Moneta Czech Open in Prostejov. The 21-year-old Spaniard defeated Laslo Djere of Serbia 6-1, 6-3 in Saturday’s singles final between to unseeded players.
Munar saved five of the seven break points he faced, converting six of his own to secure victory in one hour and 17 minutes.
“I think it was very hard for both of us at the beginning of the match, as we were both a little nervous and the game did not work well,” Munar said. “The most important thing was that I was more focused. That’s why I won the trophy.
“When I arrived in Prostějov, I wanted to win the whole tournament, of course, and I finally did it. I am very happy with the week here.”
It was the biggest triumph for the #NextGenATP player following his win in Segovia last year. Munar took away €18,290 in prize money as well as 125 ATP ranking points.
