STARNBERG, June 18, 2018

Roger Federer, who is fresh off winning the title in Stuttgart, seeks his 10th trophy at the Gerry Weber Open. The Swiss has lifted more trophies on the German grass than at any other event. Thanks to his efforts at the MercedesCup, Federer climbs to World No. 1 on Monday, but he must triumph this week in Halle to maintain the top spot in the ATP Rankings on 25 June. He will open his campaign against Aljaz Bedene.

The 36-year-old will be tested by a talented field, including three-time ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titlist Alexander Zverev, Roland Garros finalist Dominic Thiem and others at the grass-court ATP World Tour 500-level event.

Murray to make his competitive return

Andy Murray returns to the ATP World Tour this week at the Fever-Tree Championships after missing 11 months due to injury. The Scot, who has triumphed at The Queen’s Club five times, faces an immediate test against Stuttgart semi-finalist Nick Kyrgios.

World No. 5 Marin Cilic is the top seed in London, where he won the title in 2012. The past five men to lift the trophy are in the field, as are Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka.
