“The tournament is extremely popular among tennis professionals as well as among visitors. Two wild cards have been reserved so far for Nika Razborška and Jaka Kaplja,” tournament director Aljaž Kos told during a press conference in Ljubljana on Saturday.

According to Slovenia’s Davis Cup captain Miha Mlakar, the country’s top-ranked player Aljaž Bedene will not compete on the ATP Challenger Tour this year. The tournament’s entry deadline will be on 16 July.

Matches to start later in the afternoon

Changes will also be made in terms of the daily schedule, as matches will start later in the day due to heat at the Adriatic coast during that time of the year. Tennis action will kick off at 5 pm, followed by the second matches starting not before 7 pm and the night session is taking place not before 9 pm.

A couple of side-events will accompany the tennis action throughout the week. In the beginning of August, at the tournament’s opening weekend, a charity concert of the Slovenian rock band Big Foot Mama (on August 3) will take place. The final concert will be performed by Magnifico on the beach of Portorož.
