The three remaining seeded players were all in second round action on Day 3 at the 13th edition of the ATP Challenger San Benedetto Tennis Cup.
The tournament’s number two Albert Ramos has reached the quarterfinals in an untroubled way, beating Christian Lindell in straight sets 6-0, 6-1. The world number 66 from Spain only had to face two break points and saved both of them. Ramos won 81% of his first service points to seal victory in only 53 minutes, facing fifth seed Paolo Lorenzi, who defeated Peter Gojowczyk on Wednesday’s evening match 6-3, 6-3 in one hour and 18 minutes.
Maxime Hamou knocked out the tournament’s fourth favourite Damir Dzumhur, winning 6-4, 7-5. The 20-year-old Frenchman capitalized on four of his ten break point to close the match after one hour and 29 minutes. Hamou made it into his first quarterfinal since reaching the semis in Turin in April, taking on Alessandro Giannessi next. The world number 402 from Italy defeated Austrian qualifier Michael Linzer in 82 minutes. Giannessi won 83% of his first service points and saved all of the two break points he faced.
