German wild card entry Julian Lenz continued his spectacular run of form this week at the Marburg Open by beating French teenager Elliot Benchetrit 6-4, 7-5 on Thursday to reach his first semi-final on the ATP Challenger Tour.
The 25-year-old saved eight of the nine break points he faced, capitalizing on three of his own to prevail after one hour andn 46 minutes.
Lenz will next take on third seeded Bolivian Hugo Dellien, the highest ranked player left in the singles draw. The World No. 125 eased past Andrej Martin of Slovakia 6-2, 6-1 in only 62 minutes.
Félix Auger-Aliassime defeated Germany’s Oscar Otte 6-4, 7-5. The #NextGenATP star from Canada won 53 per cent of the total points played to seal victory in one hour and 38 minutes. Auger-Aliassime will face Juan-Ignacio Londero in the stage of the final four. The 24-year-old from Buenos Aires emerged victorious from the all-Argentine encounter with veteran Carlos Berlocq 6-1, 6-4. The match lasted one hour and 11 minutes.
