The ATP Challenger Tour has returned to Sweden for the second edition of the Bastad Challenger. The €43,000 clay-court event takes place from 7 to 14 July 2018.
The top four players of the qualifying advanced to the main draw on Sunday. Di Wu of China defeated Dante Gennaro from Italy 6-3, 6-4. The World No. 282 will take on No. 8 seed Oscar Otte from Germany in the opening round.
Filip Horansky emerged victorious from the all-Slovakian battle with Lukas Klein 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-1. Horansky will next meet Sumit Nagal of India. Geoffrey Blancaneaux rallied past Fred Simonsson of Sweden 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-2 to face Spaniard Pedro Martínez next. Jules Okala eased past Karl Friberg from Sweden 6-0, 6-0. He will start his main draw campaign against Uladzimir Ignatik of Belarus.
The tournament’s top seed and World No. 105 Guido Andreozzi will open his title bid against fellow Argentine Andrea Collarini. No. 2 seed and local favourite Elias Ymer starts against Marburg Open champion Juan-Ignacio Londero from Argentina.
