Rafa Nadal Open Banc Sabadell

MANACOR, July 15, 2018

The Rafa Nadal Open Banc Sabadell will be part of the 2018 ATP Challenger Tour calendar. The tournament will be held from August 26 to September 2 and is taking place at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, located in the Mallorcan town of Manacor – birthplace of the current World No. 1 of the ATP Rankings.

“The tournament was born with the aim of maintaining a firm and dedicated commitment to the promotion and development of tennis,” the organization said in an official statement. “It will be an opportunity for fans to enjoy the quality and talent of some of the best players in the world in a great environment.”

The celebration of the €43,000 hard-court event coincides with the 15th anniversary of the two ATP Challenger Tour titles conquered by Rafael Nadal, champion of the El Espinar tournament in Segovia, Spain, as well as in Barletta, Italy in 2003.

The Rafa Nadal Open Banc Sabadell is the second of three ATP Challenger tournaments held at a tennis academy in Spain. The JC Ferrero Equelite Sport Academy in Villena hosted a clay-court event in April with local favourite Pablo Andújar clinching the title. Later this season, the ASC Sanchéz-Casal Tennis Academy will stage another event from 8 October to 14 October in El Prat, a town situated in the delta of the Llobregat river on the right bank, bordering the coast of the Mediterranean Sea between Barcelona and Viladecans.
