KITZBÜHEL, July 23, 2018
Organizers of the Generali Open in Kitzbühel announced on Monday that the second wild card will be awarded to Sebastian Ofner. The 22-year-old Austrian captured his first ATP Challenger title in Astana on Sunday and will compete in the main draw of the ATP 250 clay-court event, which will be held from 28 July to 4 August 2018. Ofner joins Dennis Novak as wild card entry.
“It wasn’t an easy decision but Sebastian had a really good run in Kazakhstan,” tournament director Alexander Antonitsch commented. “He is also one of the fans’ favourites.”
Ofner advanced to the semi-finals in Kitzbühel last year. “This has been one of my nicest moments on the tour. I am looking forward to my return,” the World No. 151 said.
The tournament’s licence owner Octagon awarded its wild card to #NextGenATP Frenchman Corentin Moutet. Austria’s Jurij Rodionov and Brazilian young gun Thiago Seyboth will play in the qualifying.
