MEERBUSCH, July 25, 2018
Organizers of the Tennis Open Stadtwerke Open Meerbusch 18 showed their satisfaction with the entry list of the ATP Challenger clay-court event held from 11 to 19 August 2018. “We haven’t seen that many world-class players here in Meerbusch before,” tournament director Marc Raffel commented.
A strong German contingent will try to delight their home crowd, led by World No. 99 Yannick Hanfmann. The 26-year-old broke into the top-100 for the first time after lifting the trophy of the Sparkassen Open in Braunschweig two weeks ago.
“Yannick is in great form and will be one of the top title contenders,” Raffel said.
Hanfmann will be joined by Dustin Brown and promising teenager Rudolf Molleker, who claimed his maiden ATP Challenger title in Heilbronn earlier this year.
With defending champion Ricardo Ojeda-Lara of Spain and Austria’s Andreas Haider-Maurer both of last year’s finalists will also return to Meerbusch. Portugal’s Joao Sousa, Martin Cuevas of Uruguay and Spaniard Sergio Gutierrez-Ferrol have also entered the event with a total prize money of €43,000.
A couple of side-events are taking place each day. For more information and tickets, please visit the tournament’s official homepage.
