LILLE, September 15, 2018

Julien Benneteau and Nicolas Mahut defeat Marcel Granollers and Feliciano López in Saturday’s doubles rubber 6-0, 6-4, 7-6(7) to send France in its second straight Davis Cup by BNP Paribas final.

Benneteau, who actually announced his retirement from tennis at the US Open, said afterwards: “It’s quite possible it could be the last match of my career on tour. And what a way to finish.”

France has become the first nation to reach back-to-back Davis Cup Finals since Czech Republic in 2012-13. The defending champions will next either host Croatia or travel to the United States.
