Mmoh Reaches Quarterfinals At Tiburon Challenger

TIBURON, September 28, 2018

US-American Michael Mmoh moves forward at the $100,000 Wells Fargo Tiburon Challenger after taking his second-round match 6-2, 3-0, when compatriot Ernesto Escobedo retired from play after suffering an injury.

Similarly, wild card entry Tommy Paul from the United States goes to the quarterfinals, after his opponent Brandon Holt also retired due to injury, giving Paul the win after only 15 minutes of play. Mmoh and Paul take on each other on Friday.

James Duckworth saved six match points, rallying past fellow Australian Alexei Popyrin 4-6, 7-6(2), 7-6(6) in two hours and 25 minutes to face Marcelo Arevalo of El Salvador in the stage of the final eight.

In doubles, the US-American team of Alex Lawson and Hunter Reese bested Marcel Granollers from Spain and Mark Vervoort form the Netherlands. Top seed Granollers goes to the quarterfinals in singles and faces John-Patrick Smith of Australia.
