On day four of the main draw, two seeds advanced and secured spots in the quarter- and semi-finals at the $100,000 Stockton Pro Open. Top seed Jordan Thompson and the tournament’s No. 6 Noah Rubin made it into the stage of the final eight in singles, while Rubin advanced to the semi-finals in doubles.
On Court Center North, Rubin battled through three sets to be the first player to advance and secure a spot in the quarterfinals. Rubin took set one with ease against William Blumberg, 6-1, but Blumberg fought his way back in set two with a 6-4 victory over Rubin. In the deciding third set, Rubin dug deep to take a 6-4 win and advance. In the second turn, Christopher Eubanks managed to upset No. 5 seed Casper Ruud in a 6-1, 7-6 (8) decision.
Maxime Janvier was the second competitior to claim a spot in the quarterfinals, defeating Alexander Sarkissian in two straight sets 7-6 (1), 6-0. Barbados native Darian King, kept his hopes alive, as he upset Alex Bolt (7) in two straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
Jordan Thompson was the final singles player to secure a spot in the quarterfinals, as he battled through three sets over Japanese Kaichi Uchida. Thompson slipped in set one 4-6, before battling back in sets two and three to take the victory 6-3, 6-1.
In doubles, top-seeded duo Christopher Rungkat and Sanchai Ratiwatana secured the first semi-final spot with ease in a 6-4, 6-2 victory over John Paul Fruttero and Patrick Kypson. On the second turn, Toshihide Matsui and partner Frederik Nielsen defeated Pacific’s Akram El Sallaly and teammate Andre Goransson in two straight 6-3, 6-4, to claim the second semi-final spot.
After playing singles matches, Noah Rubin and Darian King teamed up for their first doubles match and battled through a two-set tiebreak to defeat Hans Hach Verdugo and Andreas Siljestrom 3-6, 6-4, 10-6. With not much of a break, King and Ruben played a second match, fighting through tiredness, to defeat Sem Verbeek and partner Marc Polmans 6-1, 4-6, 10-8, to advance and take the third semi-final position.
The final duo of the day Hunter Reese and Alex Lawson were the first of three doubles matches to advance to the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 7-6 (5) victory over JC Aragone and Lloyd Harris, while Harri Heliovaara and Henri Laaksonen secured a quarterfinal spot, upsetting the two-seed Ruan Roelofse and John-Patrick Smith in two straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
With having to play back-to-back matches, Heliovaara and Laaksonen prevailed over Lawson and Reese to earn the final semi-final berth in a two-set tiebreak match 7-6 (5), 6-7 (3), 10-8.
