Denis Istomin is the champion of the $50,000 Almaty II Challenger, claiming his 12th title on the ATP Challenger Tour. The top seed from Uzbekistan takes a marathon 6-7(4), 7-6(5), 6-2 final on Sunday over Nikola Milojevic of Serbia.
Istomin fired 11 aces, winning 72 per cent of his first service points as well as 51 per cent of the total points played to secure victory in two hours and 41 minutes.
Following his triumph in Chicago earlier this season, the World No. 103, who only dropped two sets en route to the title, collects $7,200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP-Ranking points.
On Saturday, Zdenek Kolar and Lukas Rosol claimed the doubles title. The duo from the Czech Republic beat Evgeny Karlovskiy of Russia and Timur Khabibulin from Kazakhstan 6-3, 6-1. The final lasted 48 minutes.
