No. 4 seed Lloyd Harris was crowned the singles champion at the 2018 Stockton Pro Open at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center on Sunday. The 21-year-old from South Africa beat the tournament’s No. 8 Marc Polmans of Australia 6-2, 6-2 in the singles final of the $100,000 ATP Challenger event.
Harris cruised to a 6-2 first set win behind one service aces and strong service play. On the other end of the court, Marc Polmans only got 57 per cent of his second serves in causing him to slip and fall in the first set and trail in the match.
Harris’ momentum continued in the second set, knocking down 75 per cent of his first serves in with two service aces. Polmans managed to grab two games but Harris could not be stopped, as he closed out the match winning the next four games, 6-2. The final lasted one hour and 11 minutes.

During his five singles victories in the Stockton Pro Open, Harris lost just one set, which came in a tie-breaker in the quarterfinals.
By lifting his second ATP Challenger trophy, Harris earns $14,400 in prize money as well as 90 ATP-Ranking points. He is up to a career-high World No. 113 and rises four spots to 10th in the ATP Race to Milan.
