ISMANING, October 19, 2018
The 32-man-draw has been whittled down to the final four at the WOLFFKRAN Open in Ismaning. Ugo Humbert, the tournament’s No. 2, is the last seeded player left in the singles draw of the €43,000 ATP Challenger event.
Humbert, who recently broke into the top 100 of the ATP-Rankings for the first time, cruised past Matteo Viola of Italy 6-1, 6-2 on Friday afternoon. The 20-year-old Frenchman didn’t face a break point, converting four of his own chances to advance in only 50 minutes. Humbert, who lifted his second trophy on the ATP Challenger Tour in Ortisei last Sunday, will next take on Filippo Baldi. The 22-year-old Italian rallied from a set down to overcome German Kevin Krawietz 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. The encounter lasted one hour and 33 minutes.
Qualifier Johannes Haerteis continued his great run of form this week by beating fellow German Daniel Masur 7-5, 6-3. The World No. 650 won 54 per cent of the total points played to reach his first Challenger semi-final after one hour and 11 minutes. Up next for Haerteis will be Gleb Sakharov of France, who defeated Jeremy Jahn of Germany 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in one hour and 53 minutes.
