ITF Press Release, October 21, 2018
The ITF has announced an agreement with Toray, a Tokyo-based leading global manufacturer of advanced materials, to become an international partner of the 2018 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Final.
Czech Republic and USA will contest the title decider at Prague’s O2 Arena on 10-11 November.
Toray, which has supported tennis for over 30 years as a title sponsor of the WTA’s Toray Pan Pacific Open, joins the Fed Cup family of sponsors that includes title sponsor BNP Paribas, international sponsor Adecco and Official Global Media Rights Partner beIN SPORTS.
Toray first linked up with the ITF earlier this year through Imprima, one of its sub brands, as title sponsor of the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals. This latest partnership underlines the organisation’s interest in supporting tennis at all levels of the game.
ITF President David Haggerty said: “We are pleased to welcome Toray to our family of sponsors at the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Final. The company has had a long association with our sport, and now has an opportunity to spread their message on a global stage. We are looking forward to an exciting final between the competition’s two most successful nations in Prague that delivers value to all our sponsors.”
“We are delighted to become an International partner of this prestigious ITF international team event and expand our commitment to tennis. Toray has supported the WTA Toray Pan Pacific Open as its title sponsor for 35 years, and in partnering with the ITF, we are excited to be able to further our support of the women’s game at the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Final,” said Hiroshi Enomoto, Vice President of Toray.
Toray has its roots and headquarters in Japan but is globally active in 27 countries, with 250 subsidiaries and partner companies in Europe, Asia and North and South America. Founded in 1926 as a producer of artificial silk, Toray has expanded and evolved and, as well as textiles and fibres, its product range now includes plastics and high-performance chemicals, carbon fiber composite materials, water treatment products and medical products.
Toray’s core technologies are ‘organic synthetic chemistry’, ‘Polymer chemistry’ and ‘biotechnology’, as well as the more recent addition: ‘nanotechnology’. Toray benefits from its special focus on research and innovation. Improving products constantly is part of the company’s DNA.
