Hubert Hurkacz and Ricardas Berankis will compete in Sunday’s singles final of the Open Brest Crédit Agricole. Hurkacz, No. 4 seed of the €106,000 ATP Challenger event, benefited from the retirment of Italian Stefano Travaglia, leading 7-6 (1), 4-2. Travaglia was forced to stop playing due to a knee injury.
Earlier in the day, Berankis edged out the tournament’s No. 3 Roberto Carballés Baena of Spain. The 28-year-old from Lithuania saved all five break points he faced, capitalizing on four of his own chances to secure a 6-2, 6-2 victory in one hour and five minutes.
Hurkacz is seeking his second ATP Challenger title following his maiden triumph on home soil in Poznan earlier this season. Berankis could clinch his 10th Challenger trophy, his second of the year. The World No.131 took the title at Saint Brieuc in April. Berankis won the only previous meeting between the two in Wroclaw three years ago.
