Guido Andreozzi is the champion of the Challenger Ciudad de Guayaquil. The No. 3 seed of the $50,000 ATP Challenger clay-court event fought past Pedro Sousa of Portugal 7-5, 1-6, 6-4 on Saturday evening.
Andreozzi broke his opponent’s serve five times to secure victory in one hour and 53 minutes. It marks the Argentine’s fourth triumph of the season. Andreozzi clinched the titles in Punta del Este, Tunis and Szczecin. Andreozzi takes away from Ecuador $7,200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP-Ranking points.
Earlier in the day, Guillermo Duran of Argentina and home favourite Roberto Quiroz took the doubles crown. The No. 4 seeds defeated the all-Brazilian combination of Thiago Monteiro and Fabricio Neis 6-3, 6-2. The final lasted only 49 minutes.
