Prajnesh Gunneswaran is the champion of the 2018 Bengaluru Tennis Open. The No. 4 seed of the $150,000 ATP Challenger hard-court event emerged victorious from an all-Indian singles final with wild card entry Saketh Myneni on Saturday evening.

Gunneswaran was in control of the encounter, didn’t face a break point, capitalizing on four of his own 10 chances to secure a 6-2, 6-2 victory in 55 minutes.

Following his triumph in Anning, China, earlier this season, the 29-year-old from Chennai lifted his second trophy on the ATP Challenger Tour. Gunneswaran, who only dropped one set en-route to the title on home soil, collects $21,600 in prize money as well as 125 ATP-Ranking points.

“It’s been a dream run. I didn’t expect to do this well at the beginning of the year. I knew I had the potential, but I’m really happy that all the work I put in is paying off,” Gunneswaran was quoted by The Times of India. The World No. 144 will get closer to the Top 100 and will try to continue his great run of form at the KPIT-MSLTA Challenger in Pune next week.
