TAIPEI, November 18, 2018
Sabine Lisicki still has to wait for her first title win on the WTA Tour since 2014. The former Wimbledon finalist lost Sunday’s singles final of the $125,000 Taipei OEC Open to Luksila Kumkhum of Thailand 6-1, 6-3.
No. 2 seed Kumkhum capitalized on four of her eight break point chances to prevail after 50 minutes. The World No. 81 lifted her fourth title of the season following her triumphs at the ITF Pro Circuit events in Kofu, Kashiwa as well as at the WTA 125K series tournament in Mumbai. Kumkhum takes away $20,000 in prize money and collects 160 WTA-Ranking points.
Lisicki, who entered the main draw in Taiwan with a wild card, clinched her last title in Hong Kong four years ago. The 29-year-old German will climb 61 positions to World No. 201 on Monday.
