Spanish teenager Nicola Kuhn created the first upset of this year’s tournament ousting World No. 191 Andrej Martin of Slovakia to reach the second round of the main draw at the KPIT MSLTA ATP Challenger organized by MSLTA and PMDTA and played at the Mhalunge-Balewadi Tennis Complex.

In the opening main draw match on Monday, 18-year-old Kuhn, who entered the event as an alternate, took just over an hour to knock out the tournament’s No. 7, winning 6-2, 6-3. The World No. 281 broke Martin’s serve four times and won 59 per cent of the total point played to set a second round meeting with either German lucky loser Benjamin Hassan or Frederico Ferreira Silva of Portugal.
