Angelique Kerber will return to the WTA Mallorca Open, which will be held at the Santa Ponsa Tennis Club from 17th to 23rd of June. Kerber, who was recently honoured as Germany’s female sportsperson of the year, is looking forward to the 2019 edition of the grass-court tournament.

“The Mallorca Open with its great grass courts is the perfect preparation for Wimbledon. Players and spectators enjoy the tournament with a pleasant atmosphere,” said the 30-year-old German, who fell in the opening round to Alison Riske last year.

“I’m delighted that Angie Kerber, the reigning Wimbledon champion, is coming to the Mallorca Open in 2019 and will of course try to win the title on her second appearance. I’m also very happy that our tournament has been growing steadily. My thanks go to all our partners including Wimbledon,” organizer Edwin Weindorfer stated.
