14-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic, who lifted his fourth Abu Dhabi crown at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship on Satuday, is aiming to make history as only the second player, after Swiss maestro Roger Federer, to lift the trophy for a third time since the tournament began 27 years ago.
The 2016 and 2017 champion, who pulled out of the last tournament due to injury, has had an impressive season in 2018, winning the Wimbledon and the US Open alongside a host of other titles. Djokovic will open his ATP Tour season against Damir Dzumhur from Bosnia and Herzegovina. He will also step into doubles action teaming up with his brother Marko.
No. 2 seeded Austrian Dominic Thiem will open his campaign in Doha against Pierre-Hugues Herbert of France. The tournament’s No. 3 Karen Khachanov will face Stan Wawrinka of Switzland, who is making his return to the courts for the first time since the Shanghai Masters in October.
