HOBART, January 10, 2019
Quarterfinals for Hobart International 2019 have concluded setting a strong semi-finals line-up for Friday.
It was a thrilling day of action which saw Kenin, Cornet, Bencic and Schmiedlova come out on top.
Sofia Kenin from the United States battled through a tight match against Kirsten Flipkens defeating the Belgian 7-5 7-5, crowd favourite Alize Cornet of France defeated main draw debutant Greet Minnen from Belgium 6-1 6-4, Anna Schmiedlova from Slovakia defeated Irina-Camelia Begu of Romania, and Swiss Belinda Bencic overcame a fearless Dayana Yastremska from the Ukraine 7-6(2) 6-3.
Semi-final matches get underway on Friday with Belinda Bencic taking on Anna Karolina Schmiedlova before Alize Cornet takes on Sofia Kenin to decide the 2019 final. The doubles semi-finals will also be played tomorrow.
