CHERBOURG, February 15, 2019

Top seed Ugo Humbert will lead the semi-finals line-up at the €46,000 Challenger-Cherbourg-La Manche. The World No. 88 from France beat Oscar Otte from Germany 6-4, 6-4 on Friday afternoon at the Complexe Sportif Chantereyne.

Humbert, who is the only singles player ranked inside the top 100 at this week’s ATP Challenger 80 event, saved the only break point he faced, converting two of his own nine chances to prevail after one hour and 24 minutes.

The 20-year-old from Metz is seeking his first title of the season and will next take on Mats Moraing, who received a walkover into the stage of the final four, as French veteran Nicolas Mahut was forced to withdraw from the match due to injury.

Earlier in the day, Steve Darcis continued his good run of form with a 6-3, 7-5 win over No. 6 seed Lukas Rosol from the Czech Republic. The 34-year-old from Belgium sent down five aces, winning 73 per cent of his first service points to secure victory in one hour and 17 minutes.

Next up for Darcis will be Stefano Travaglia, who emerged victorious from the all-Italian affair with Luca Vanni. The 27-year-old from Ascoli Piceno won 52 per cent of the total points played to advance in one hour and 35 minutes. Travagali won 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
