STARNBERG, February 18, 2019

The sixth edition of the Rio Open presented by Claro is the second ATP 500 tournament of the season. The event, held at the Jockey Club Brasileiro, is the third leg of the five-tournament swing through Latin America, aptly called the “Golden Swing”.

Former champion Dominic Thiem of Austria is the top seed, while 2015 finalist Fabio Fognini of Italy is the second seed. This week’s Argentina Open finalists, Marco Cecchinato of Italy and Diego Schwartzman of Argentina, round out the third and fourth seeds, respectively.

Defending champion Schwartzman will square off against Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay in the first round. In 2016, Cuevas stunned 2014 winner Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals before lifting the trophy after a three-set win over Guido Pella.

Tsitsipas leads Marseille field

The Open 13 Provence returns to Marseille for the 27th year. It’s the last of a three-week stretch of European indoor hard-court events in February.

Reigning Next Gen ATP Finals champion Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece is the top seed. Borna Coric of Croatia looks to continue his strong start to 2019 as the second seed, while David Goffin of Belgium is the third seed and Denis Shapovalov of Canada is the fourth seed.

Two French players and former champions in Marseille also headline the draw. Two-time champion Gilles Simon (2007, 2015) is the sixth seed and three-time champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (2009, 2013, 2017) has taken a wild card.

Del Potro returns to the ATP Tour

The Delray Beach Open by VITACOST.com celebrates its 21st year in Delray Beach and 27th overall. It’s the first North American outdoor hard-court event of the season.

The top seed is Argentine Juan Martin del Potro, who returns to the ATP Tour after missing four months with a right knee injury. The 30-year-old won this event in 2011 and has reached at least the semi-finals in three of his past four appearances.

US-Americans round out the remaining top seeds in this year’s draw. World No. 9 John Isner is the second seed, defending champion and Australian Open quarterfinalist Frances Tiafoe is the third seed and Steve Johnson is the fourth seed.

The Delray Beach Open is the only tournament in the world featuring an ATP Champions Tour event and an ATP 250 event in the same week at the same venue.
