Osaka, March 4, 2019
Ivana Jorovic won her 13th ITF title on Sunday at the $25,000 Seims Cup World Tennis Tour W25 hard-court Osaka, held at the Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences.
The 21-year-old Serbian came through three four-set matches, culminating in a 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 victory over fourth seed Jia-Jing Lu of China in Sunday’s final. The title match lasted two hours and 26 minutes.
“It was a tough week,” Jorovic was quoted in a StarWing Sports press release. “I didn’t play my best tennis, but I managed to go all the way and that’s a great feeling. I hope I can keep this run for one more week in Japan.”
Jorovic is close to breaking into the Top 100 of the WTA Rankings for the first time. She will play in another $25,000 tournament in Yokohama, Japan this week.
