The quarterfinals of the 2019 Cachantun Open by KIA are set. The tournament held at the Club Manquehue in Santiago de Chile is the country’s oldest ATP Challenger event established in the year 2000.
World No. 93 Pablo Andújar leads the line-up. The top seed from Spain beat Federico Gaio of Italy 6-3, 6-3 on Thursday evening to reach the stage of the final eight. Andújar, who entered the ATP Challenger 80 clay-court tournament with a wild card, broke his opponent’s serve four times to advance in one hour and 32 minutes.
The 33-year-old from Cuenca will next take on compatriot Pedro Martínez Portero, who emerged victorious from the battle between two players from Valencia. The No. 7 seed defeated Carlos Taberner 7-5, 7-5 in two hours and 13 minutes.

No. 2 seed Hugo Dellien fought past Gian Marco Moroni of Italy 7-6(4), 6-2. The World No. 87 from Bolivia won 55 per cent of the total points played to secure victory in one hour and 37 minutes. Up next for Dellien will be 10th seeded Belgian Kimmer Coppejans, who overcame Spanish veteran Daniel Gimeno-Traver 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 in just under two hours of play.
The tournament’s No. 3 also made it into the quarterfinals, as Thiago Monteiro battled past Andrej Martin of Slovakia 7-6(3), 2-6, 6-3. The 24-year-old from Brazil saved six of the nine break points he faced, converting two of his own 13 chances to prevail after two hours and 38 minutes. Monteiro will be next challenged by Tung-Lin Wu of Taipei, who knocked off No. 5 seed Facundo Bagnis from Argentina in three sets.
In the remaining quarterfinal match-up Andrea Giannessi of Italy will face Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil.
