The Atalaya Castle in Villena hosted the official presentation of the Ferrero Challenger Open on Wednesday. The second edition of the ATP Challenger 80 clay-court event will be held from 1 to 7 April 2019 at the JC Ferrero Equelite in Academy in Villena.
Pablo Andújar will try to defend his title, he clinched in last year’s singles final against Australian young gun Alex de Minuar. The 33-year-old Spaniard will be joined on home soil by his compatriots Tommy Robredo, Guillermo García López, Roberto Carballés Baena, Nicola Kuhn, Alejandro Davidovich and Carlos Alcaraz among others.
The tournament with a total financial commitment of €46,600 will also feature international players such as Maximilian Marterer of Germany, Jiri Vesely from the Czech Republic, Russia’s Andrey Rublev as well as Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci and Argentine veteran Carlos Berlocq.

One of the most anticipated moments of this edition will be the exhibition match played by Juan Carlos Ferrero and David Ferrer, as a tribute to the tennis player of Jávea in the year of his retirement from professional tennis. The match will take place on Friday, April 5.
The organizers as well as the president of the Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) also announced the 18th edition of the ITF Junior G1 international tournament that will be held at the same venue from March 24 to March 31.
