Salvatore Caruso headlined Friday’s quaterfinal action at the Arizona Tennis Classic in Phoenix. The World No. 168 from Italy has scored the biggest win in his career so far by knocking out World No. 21 David Goffin from Belgium, the top seed of the ATP Challenger 125 event.
Caruso broke his opponent’s serve four times, winning 52 per cent of the total points played to secure a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory in one hour and 46 minutes. Caruso will next face No. 4 seed Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan, who beat Nicolas Jarry of Chile 6-4, 7-5.

Guido Andreozzi fought past the tournament’s No. 3 John Millman of Australia 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. The 27-year-old from Argentina sent down seven aces, winning 63 per cent of his first service points to prevail after one hour and 48 minutes. Next up for Andreozzi will be Matteo Berrettini, who emerged victorious from the all-Italian affair with Lorenzo Sonego 6-4, 6-4. The encounter lasted one hour and 31 minutes.
