ÖHRINGEN, March 29, 2019
The Hohenlohe Open will be the newest tournament to be held on German soil this year. The event with a total financial commitment of $200,000 will be part of the ATP Challenger Tour, taking place on the clay-courts of the TSG Hohenlohe in Öhringen. Öhringen is the largest town situated in the district of Hohenlohe, in the state of Baden-Württemberg, in southwest Germany. The city of Heilbronn, which hosts the popular Neckar Cup in May, is located only 28 kilometers away from Öhringen.
“For professional tennis in Germany every tournament is a win and it would be perfect for the players if both tournaments take place in a row,” ATP supervisor Hans-Jürgen Ochs was quoted on the German website Stimme.de.
However, the inaugural edition of the Hohenlohe Open is scheduled to take place later in the season from 30 September to 6 October, the same week as the also new-established ATP Challenger clay-court event at the Ferrer Tennis Academy in Jávea, Spain.
The winner of the €46,600 ATP Challenger event will receive 80 ATP-Ranking points. The tournament will be run by Alessandra Trenkle and her isarOne GmbH, who is also responsible for the organization of the Isar Open in Pullach in August.
