Roger Federer defeated John Isner, who struggled with a foot injury towards the end of the match, 6-1, 6-4 to capture his fourth Miami Open presented by Itaú title on Sunday afternoon. The No. 4 seed from Switzerland withstood nine aces, breaking the US-American serve six times to secure victory in one hour and three minutes.

“It was a dream start, relaxing my nerves [to break in the opening game],” said Federer. “What a week its been for me. I’m just so happy right now. It’s unbelievable. I played here in 1999 for the first time and here I am in 2019. It means a lot to me.”

Federer claimed his 101st ATP Tour title and 28th ATP Masters 1000 crown. Following his triumph at the Duty Free Tennis Championships in Dubai, the World No. 5 is the first two-time winner on the ATP Tour this season, breaking a streak of 19 different winners in 2019.
