The top four seeds advance to the quarterfinals of the ATP Challenger Intermek Tennis Cup Internazionali di Tennis Del Friuli Venezia Giulia in Cordenons.
The tournament’s number one Albert Ramos set an all-Spanish-clash with sixth seed Roberto Carballés-Baena in the round of the final eight, winning 6-2, 6-2 against Michael Linzer in one hour and 28 minutes.
Carballés-Baena defeated last Saturday’s runner-up from Portoroz Grega Zemlja, winning 6-4, 6-3. The 22-year-old Spaniard won 75% of his first service points to seal victory in one hour and 17 minutes.
Cordenon’s second favourite Paolo Lorenzi emerged victorious from the all-Italian-affair leading 7-6, 4-6, 4-1 before Thomas Fabbiano was forced to retire after two hours and 23 minutes.
Third seed Filip Krajinovic cruised past Erik Crepaldi in only 44 minutes, winning 6-0, 6-0 without facing a single break point to take on Antonio Veic next.
Fourth seed Kenny de Schepper defeated another Italian in person of Alessandro Giannessi, winning 6-0, 7-6 in one hour and 25 minutes to face Adrian Ungur in the quarterfinals.
