Dustin Brown advanced to the third round of the €69,260 Mouratoglou Open, knocking out Dutchman Robin Haase, the No. 2 seed of the ATP Challenger 90 clay-court event in Sophia Antipolis.

The 34-year-old German, who won his opening match against Frenchman Baptiste Crepatte on Monday, sent down five aces, winning 75 per cent of his first service points to prevail 6-4, 6-3 in just under one hour of play. Next up for Brown will be No. 15 seed Kimmer Coppejans from Belgium.

Earlier on Tuesday on Court Central Pierre Andurand, Alexei Popyrin emerged victorious from the battle of the teenagers with 17-year-old Italian Lorenzo Musetti, who claimed his first ATP Challenger match win in the first round.

The 19-year-old Australian capitalized on three of his four break point opportunities to secure a 6-3, 6-2 win in 63 minutes. No. 8 seeded Popyrin will next take on 12th favourite Filippo Baldi of Italy, who benefited from the retirement of Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, leading 6-2 after the first set.
