Hungarian Open Budapest

STARNBERG, April 22, 2019

Croats Marin Cilic and Borna Coric hold the first and second seeds, respectively, at the Hungarian Open. Budapest hosts this ATP 250 event at the Nemzeti Edzes Kozpont for the third consecutive year.

Cilic and Coric are joined by defending champion Marco Cecchinato of Italy and fourth seed Nikoloz Basilashvili from Georgia, making four competitors at this event who are inside the Top 20 of the ATP Rankings. All three of Cecchinato’s ATP Tour titles have come within the past 12 months on red clay. Basilashvili triumphed on this surface in Hamburg last year.

Serbian Laslo Djere, 2018 runner-up John Millman, Kazakh Mikhail Kukushkin and Moldovan Radu Albot round out the Top 8 seeds. Monte-Carlo finalist Dusan Lajovic will play wild card Mate Valkusz in his opening match and former Top 10 player Ernests Gulbis also features in the draw, set to play Djere in the first round.

Nadal to lead Barcelona line-up

Top seed Rafael Nadal will look to win his 12th trophy at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell. Nadal is bidding for a fourth consecutive triumph at the ATP 500 tournament. The Spaniard will be joined by five fellow members of the Top 10 in the ATP Rankings.

Second seed seed Alexander Zverev, third seed Dominic Thiem and fourth seed Kei Nishikori also feature at the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899. Nishikori is a two-time champion in Barcelona and Thiem finished runner-up in 2017.

Last year’s finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas, sixth seed Karen Khachanov, Monte-Carlo semi-finalist Daniil Medvedev and Monte-Carlo champion Fabio Fognini round out the Top 8 seeds in Barcelona. Four-time finalist David Ferrer also appears as a wild card.
