Simona Waltert won her fourth $15,000 ITF World Tennis Tour title on Sunday at the Al Solaimaneyah Resort W15 in Cairo. She also partnered Despina Papamichail to the doubles crown.
The 19-year-old Swiss defeated Austria’s Melanie Klaffner 7-6(6), 7-5 in the clay-court final to add to her singles title in February 2019 at W15 Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt.
Waltert beat Minami Akiyama of Japan in the first round, Russia’s Anastasia Zolotateva in the second round, Yuka Hosoki of Japan in the quarter-finals and her Greek doubles partner Papamichail 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the semi-finals.
Walter and Papamichail recorded a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Egyptians Maiar Sherif and Rana Sherif Ahmed in the doubles final.
