SAVANNAH, May 3, 2019

Quarterfinal action at the St. Joseph’s/Candler (SJ/C) Savannah Challenger has come to a close with the semi-finals now set ahead of Saturday.

In the first match of the day, No. 15 seed Federico Coria looked to continue his superb form and took on the young Frenchmen Alexandre Muller. Muller proved a easy test for the Argentine, with Coria dispatching Muller with a 6-4, 6-1 win in one hour and 21 minutes.

The next match between Tommy Paul and Aleksandar Vukic never came to fruition, as Paul was forced to retire from the match due to a right shoulder injury. With the walkover, World No. 354 Vukic will now be playing in one of the biggest singles matches of his career as he looks to make the final on Sunday.

Next up, No. 3 seed Corentin Moutet battled it out against a hard-hitting Sumit Nagal. Nagal was able to take the opening set 6-4, before Moutet was able to find his form and stay with the 21-year-old Indian  in the second. Nagal ultimately closed out the match after one hour and 54 minutes with a final score of 6-4, 7-5 to advance to his first ATP Challenger semi-final since November 2017.

In the last match of the day, No. 2 seed Paolo Lorenzi breezed past Chris Eubanks from the United States with a 6-3, 6-3 win. The 37-year-old Italian is looking for his 22nd career singles title on the ATP Challenger Tour.

In the first doubles semi-final, No. 2 seeds Roberto Maytin and Fernando Romboli defeated Alex Lawson and Ruan Roelofse 7-6(6), 6-3. Maytin and Romboli are fresh off picking up the Tallahassee Tennis Challenger doubles title on Sunday and will be looking to pick up their fourth title as a team.

Play gets underway on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. with the remaining doubles semi-final of Guinard & Rinderknech vs Gomez & Withrow. Next up, the singles semi-finals will get underway with Federico Coria taking on Aleksandar Vukic. A Net Generation Exhibition will then take place before Paolo Lorenzi and Sumit Nagal battle for a place in the championship match.
