BRAGA, May 12, 2019
Facundo Bagnis and Joao Domingues advanced to the title matach of the €46,600 Braga Open on an action-packed Saturday, in which both quarterfinals and semi-finals took place at the Clube Ténis Braga.
No. 2 seed Bagnis had rallied past 11th favourite Tallon Griekspoor from the Netherlands 6-7(1), 6-4, 6-4 before he made quick work of No. 16 seed Zdenek Kolar from the Czech Republic 6-2, 6-0. The 29-year-old Argentine didn’t face a break point, converting five of his own eight opportunities to reach the final in only 57 minutes.
Domingues followed a similar pattern, as he had battled past No. 10 seed Norbert Gombos from Slovakia 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 followed by an easy 6-0, 6-0 win over Bernabé Zapata Miralles of Spain in only 38 minutes.
I don’t even know what to say… Three hours after winning his QF match, João Domingues loses only 14 points on his way to a 6-0, 6-0 win in 39 minutes vs. Bernabé Zapata Miralles.
An embarrassing performance from the Spanish, to say the least… #BragaOpen pic.twitter.com/ag5Vb86EDl

“This has been my best match of the week so far,” Domingues said after making it into the final. “I played very solid, which gives me the right motivation for tomorrow.”
Domingues and Bagnis will meet for the third time. The No. 13 seed from Portugal lost to Bagnis at the 2017 ATP Challenger in Bastad but took revenge for the defeat in Buenos Aires later in the season.
Domingues is seeking his second ATP Challenger title following his maiden triumph in Mestre two years ago. Bagnis could lift his 13th trophy.
