World No. 39 Yulia Putintseva and unseeded Tamara Zidansek will compete in Saturday’s singles final of the Nürnberger Versicherungscup. Putintseva defeated Sorana Cirstea of Romania 6-4, 7-5.
The top seed from Kazakhstan converted three of her four break point chances to advance to her third final on the WTA Tour after one hour and 51 minutes.
“The serve made the difference today. I served really well and fought until the end,” Putintseva said.
Later on Friday afternoon, Zidansek upset No.2 seed Katerina Siniakova from the Czech Republic. The 20-year-old of Slovenia won 54 per cent of the total points played to secure a 7-6(4), 6-2 victory in one hour and 23 minutes.

“I feel fantastic,” Zidansek after reaching her first title match on the WTA Tour. “I’ve been working hard to be where I am, and I’m aiming even higher. But right now I feel really good about the final tomorrow, and I’m looking forward to it.”
Putintseva and Zidansek are both seeking their first-ever WTA singles title.They have faced off once before, just three weeks ago in the first round in Rabat, on clay. Zidansek won that encounter in three sets.
