Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime, seeded No. 25, has withdrawn from the Roland-Garros tournament with a left adductor injury.

The 18-year-old, who finished runner-up to Benoit Paire at the ATP 250 event in Lyon on Saturday, was scheduled to face Australia’s Jordan Thompson in the first round, will be replaced by the Spanish lucky loser Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

“I didn’t feel great during the finals yesterday in Lyon. I was just trying to finish the match,” Auger-Aliassime told the media in Paris on Sunday afternoon. “We were waiting to maybe get some exams done today in Paris. They weren’t in favor of me playing, so after that we took the decision of pulling out.”

About playing back-to-back, the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome and Lyon, the teenager added: “Maybe I should be more careful in the future. It’s true that I was feeling physically good when I got to Lyon. Several players do that and do two tournaments in a row, but maybe I should learn my lesson.”
