STUTTGART, June 7, 2019

Organizers of the MercedesCup announced on Friday that Alexander Zverev has accepted a wild card into the main draw of next week’s ATP 250 grass-court event. The 22-year-old German will return to Stuttgart for the first time since 2015. The tournament offers a total prize money of €754,540.

“We are very pleased that Alexander Zverev will make his comeback at the MercedesCup this year.  Zverev is in good shape. He recently won the title in Geneva and reached the quarterfinals of the French Open. We are convinced that he will keep up the momentum to start into the grass-court season. His appearance is a real milestone for our tournament,” tournament director Edwin Weindorfer stated in press release.

“I am happy to play again at the MercedesCup in Stuttgart. In the last few weeks I have regained confidence. I now hope for successful tournaments on grass. I love to play in Germany, in front of my fans,” Zverev said.

The World No. 5 will join Karen Khachanov (RUS/No. 13), Daniil Medvedev (RUS/14), Milos Raonic (CAN/16), Nikoloz Basilashvili (GEO/17), Gael Monfils (FRA/18) and Denis Shapovalov (CAN/20).
